Indonesia: Travellers required to complete a monkeypox form before arrival

Since 27 August 2024, the Indonesian government has introduced a new requirement for all international travellers, whether Indonesian or foreign, concerning the Monkey pox (Mpox). To reinforce health safety and prevent the spread of this disease, passengers must now complete a electronic form known as SATUSEHAT Health Pass before they arrive in Indonesia. This process aims to gather crucial information on travellers' health and travel history, ensuring better risk management at the country's entry points.

Since 27 August 2024, the Indonesian government has imposed a new requirement for international travellers, both Indonesian and foreign, obliging everyone to complete an electronic health declaration form entitled SATUSEHAT Health Pass. This measure has been put in place to combat the spread of Monkey poxalso known as Mpox. The new tool is designed to reinforce health security at points of entry into the country, particularly airports.

The SATUSEHAT Health Pass: the key to Indonesia

Le SATUSEHAT Health Pass is an electronic form that allows travellers to provide crucial information about their health and travel history before arriving in Indonesia. Entering this information is essential for assessing the potential risks that each traveller could present. If symptoms are detected, the health authorities can react quickly and effectively to prevent the spread of the disease.

Points of entry, particularly airports, will have direct access to the data collected via this form. This will facilitate the implementation of appropriate control measures to detect and treat travellers likely to be carriers of this virus.

Procedure for filling in the SATUSEHAT Health Pass

Passengers can access the SATUSEHAT Health Pass online via the official link : https://sshp.kemkes.go.id. Once you have entered the required information, a QR code will be generated. This code contains important health and travel information that travellers must present on arrival.

Information to be provided on the form

To complete the SATUSEHAT Health PassTravellers must provide the following details:

Application of regulations by the Indonesian authorities

The implementation of this requirement results from the approval of the Indonesian Ministry of Transport and Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The regulations were formalised in circular number 5 DJPU of 2024, specifying the obligation to use the SATUSEHAT Health Pass for all travellers entering the country.

Entry controls

On arrival in Indonesia, body temperature checks are also carried out in addition to the presentation of the SATUSEHAT Health Pass. If a passenger has a temperature above 37.5 degrees Celsius, a more thorough health assessment will be carried out to ensure the safety of all passengers.

Health context and additional precautions

On 14 August 2024, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the Monkey pox as a public health emergency of international concern, which motivated Indonesia to adopt these measures. Since 2022, 88 cases of Mpox have been recorded in the country, with prevalence mainly observed in Java and in Riau Islands.

Government initiatives to control the disease
